Comicbookresources.com has a great, in-depth piece detailing UDON’s upcoming Street Fighter Tribute art book, which collects Street Fighter art from big-name comic artists as well as art submitted by fans just like you.
They talk to UDON staff, individual artists, and provide plenty of sneak-peeks at the motherlode of SF art contained within. Check it out here!
We’re sold out (for now). You said you wanted the Mega Man Zero Official Complete Works art book. As soon as we made it available in the Capcom Store, you backed up your words big time. Orders are still coming in. Thanks! If you place an order and get a notification that your book is on backorder, please be patient. If stars Capcom and Udon align, we will be getting more.
Look out for the brief return of the Street Fighter Eternal Challenge, Shinkiro hardcover edition coming soon and the Street Fighter Tribute Book coming later this summer.
This new video shows off some classic Super Turbo combos (now in glorious HD!) along with some of the new combo possibilities you’ll find in the “Rebalanced” mode in Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
Here’s what Rey Jimenez, the HD Remix producer, has to say about this video:
Ok, with Captivate 08 over now and the new screens released, I figured I should get some video to you guys to tide you over until the open beta starts (very soon). And no… it’s not from my camera phone.
I’d like to thank our new-ish QA guy here Derek for doing the combos for me. I’m decent at the game, but Derek’s much better than me. Better than Seth? That remains to be seen, but Derek has put up a few combo videos in his time, so he was perfect for doing this for me.
I’d just like to note that these were all done on a normal joystick, so no programmable shenanigans are going on here. Also, for some reason there are black bars showing on the left and right sides. It’s strange because these didn’t show up on the monitor I was using. In 16:9 mode, the screen should go all the way to the edge of the screen, but in the event that it doesn’t, the screen will be fully scalable to fit any screen size, similar to Super Puzzle Fighter HD Remix.
So, keep a sharp eye out if you can. A few of the combos in the video are only possible in the new Remixed mode. Let’s see if you guys are sharp enough to figure out which ones they are. I’m not sure how the quality is going to look after being posted on Youtube, but rest assured that it’s looking HOT right now. You guys are certainly going to be blown away by what we’re doing for a downloadable game. Till then, take care.
*note that while damage has always been high in Super Turbo, many of these combos are performed against Akuma, who takes even more damage than most characters.
In addition to the press and members of our Capcom community, CAPTIVATE08 also got a surprise visit from MMA World Champion Cung Le. The champ (and his belt!) came through to check out all the new games, but he was of course specially interested in SFIV.
We took him down to some private machines where he went one on one with SFIV producer Yoshinori Ono himself. Ono-san fought bravely, but when he went down in the third, he tagged me in to put the champ on his back.
Here’s a quote from her write-up, which I like because it says a lot about the new, community-scented breezes blowing at Capcom:
After introductions were made of the main Capcom players and event heads, I was a little mortified when they asked for us Community folks to stand up and get introduced as well. So I stood up in my Trigun Tshirt, tiniest person there, and waved hello to the gaming press like a sixth grader at the first day of school, while being introduced as “[she] runs the large Ace Attorney site.” To my shock, murmurs of recognition went through the crowd. People in suits recognized what that meant. I think I almost died (in a good way).
I myself have had the honor of fighting Seth “S-kill” Killian in Street Fighter IV and have witnessed him not just playing the game but playing the game well! If you don’t believe me then check out the video.
It was shot guerilla-style by Unity member and CAPTIVATE08 special invitee Dubindoh, and it’s Capcom US’s Seth versus Capcom Europe’s Leo Tan last week at CAPTIVATE08.
So the demo is out and available around the internets today. I gotta say, I spent a lot of time with this game on PS3 and 360, and if you’re a graphics nerd, this PC version is going to BLOW YOU AWAY.
On a good-but-not-amazing PC, with all the detail cranked in the benchmark mode, this thing was still rocking a solid 60fps. Every part of it just looks smoooooth and although it was already a quick game, overall it even plays a touch faster on PC.
The demo lets you challenge a boss immediately, or take a 10-minute run through one of the game’s gorgeous levels. It also has the popular benchmark mode so you can see how your rig stacks up. The full game offers a Turbo Mode (exactly what it sounds like), and a Dark Knight Mode that exploits PC powah to pack the screen with more enemies than you can shake a Red Queen at.
Get the demo now! Or hit the jump for the full media blast (geez I hate those words)…
The action takes place on July 26th and 27th in London Metropolitan University’s Rocket Complex, and will feature the continent’s best competition on games including Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Capcom vs SNK 2, and Hyper Street Fighter II Anniversary Edition.
The event will also be the UK public’s first chance to get hands-on with the new Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, so it’s truly a “can’t miss” event for any fighting game fans.

Gaming jobs are awesome. Why? Well, just last week I spent the entire week in Las Vegas from Tuesday to Saturday, living it up in a posh hotel on the 32nd floor with free booze, food, video games and 150 like-minded video game folks to play them with. Plus we got to shoot at zombies. Now, before you’re overcome with jealousy, live the event vicariously by clicking through and checking out all the games we showed off at Captivate 08.
Dark Void finally emerged from the shadows during CAPTIVATE08, and you guys are undoubtedly seeing tons of cool stuff hitting on the game. Dark Void was one of the standout titles from the event — sure, everyone knew they were going to dig RE5, but Dark Void grabbed attention with its great visuals, interesting spin on third-person action and team pedigree. Here’s a great look at the game (at least, as much as we have revealed thus far) with Capcom’s own Kraig Kujawa hitting all the pertinent communication points. That’s some solid media training!
