Bionic Commando producer Ben Judd is back at it, bringing you inside with the people that make it all happen inside the magical Wonka Factory that is Capcom R+D. This time he’s talking to Hironobu Takeshita (caricatured above by GRIN artist Joakim Hellstedt):
Takeshita-san drops by to discuss the performance of the acclaimed Wii game, as well as the Breath of Fire series, We Love Golf, why he wants to kill all monkeys - and sings us a very strange Bionic Commando song…
Check out the new podcast (along with all of the earlier episodes) here. Also don’t forget to ask the magic box your questions to take a shot at the special holiday prize.

Adam “Sess” Sessler and Morgan “hotter and tinier in real life than you would think” Webb and the X-Play crew at G4 have just released their nominees for X-Play’s Best of 2007 awards. Included on the inevitable list of tasty children, fat plumbers, lies about cake, and games that feature tiny toy guitars is none other than Capcom’s own Zack & Wiki! Z-Dub has been nominated in the “Most Original” category, which is clearly a two-horse race between our magic flying monkey and Eric’s amazing writing. Go, Z&W!
Sess and Morgan will reveal the 2007 winners in the special X-Play Best of 2007 Awards episode airing Monday, December 17 at 8 pm ET/PT, only on G4. Set yer Tivos now!

1up.com just spilled the beans on their categories and nominees for Game of the Year 2007, and we’re pleased as punch to see that there are several Capcom games included on their list.
We’re both amazed and excited to see Zack and Wiki on the 1up list for Game of the Year. Of course, we’re also realistic, seeing as how it’s a very long list and contains games like Bioshock and… well, other games, but Bioshock is on there, so I’m pretty sure I know right where that particular award is going: Ken Levine’s desk. And you know what? I’m alright with that.
If you’re not too busy now, might we suggest you follow the jump to 1up and vote for some of our fine, fine products? Danke! Remember: Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, Mario, Bioshock, etc. are all selling just fine, but Z-Dub could use some serious love!
Here’s how the award season is looking for Capcom at 1up:
Best Action Game:
- Resident Evil 4 Wii edition
Best Adventure Game:
- Zack & Wiki
- Monster Hunter Freedom 2
- Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Best Console Downloadable Game:
- Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix
Game of the Year:

In addition to the producer interview contained in the Zack and Wiki reviewer’s guide, the Wired blog also has a fiery little interview with the Zack and Wiki producer Hironobu Takeshita.
In addition to correctly putting the blame for getting owned by the game’s devilish puzzles squarely on the shoulders of *you*, the scrubby player, Takeshita also gives Spelunker (one of the most hated games of my misspent youth) a shout-out. Good stuff.

Capcom has started sending out some really cool paper guides alongside games we send to the press for review. They aren’t quite Prima-style guides, but they’re about 100x more fun than most instruction manuals, and offer more detailed (and more fun) pointers on how to use the Wii-mote in game, walk-throughs for a few puzzles (there’s your spoiler warning), and an interview with the producer Takeshita-san. Anyway it’s filled with good info and great art, so we thought we’d share. Whee!

The Zack & Wiki love continues to flow from IGN! Everyone’s favorite flying-magic- monkey-junior-pirate-Wii-puzzle-brain game has just been nominated as the site’s Game of the Month, amazingly beating out Guitar Hero III (a game in heavy rotation around the Capcom offices — who else has developed the GH clawhand from too many late night sessions? Throw up the devil horns with your mangled paw). Check out their high praise indeed here.
Amongst all the ah-shucks inducing praise from the IGN crew comes this line: “Easily one of the most inspired, innovative, and intuitive games on Wii thus far, Capcom’s evolution of the classic point-and-click adventure genre is simply stunning.” Thanks, IGN, for all your kind words about Z-Dub!

IGN has always been one of the biggest supporters of Zack & Wiki since the beginning, even starting a “Buy Zack & Wiki” hype-campaign. On the eve of “Z-Dub’s” release, IGN finished reviewing the game just in time to give it a whopping 9 out of 10.
We’ve been running the Buy Zack & Wiki in 2007 Campaign since we first discovered the game’s appeal and now that we’ve finally quested for all of Barbaros’ treasure, we can definitively state that Z-Dub belongs in your library.
Indeed, Z-Dub presents some of the smartest and most rewarding challenges in any adventure game we’ve ever played and it’s for this very reason that you will appreciate the title.
Not only did they have kind words for the game, to further stress their campaign, they dedicated their latest IGN Toons to Zack & Wiki as well.

Japan’s Computer Entertainment Software Association recently held their Japan Game Awards 2007 during this year’s Tokyo Game Show that took place from September 20-23rd and Capcom was able to walk away with multiple awards.
Monster Hunter Freedom 2, a PSP title that to date has sold over 1.4 million copies in Japan, was awarded the esteemed Grand Award as well as the Award for Excellence by the CESA. In addition, Okami, and our platinum hit, Lost Planet, also receive the Award for Excellence. Meanwhile, Dead Rising’s global mass appeal allowed it to capture the Global Award.
The Tokyo Game Show attendees chose as recipients for the Future Awards, given for highly anticipated games, Capcom’s Devil May Cry 4, Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes and Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure.
We at Capcom feel very honored and thankful for the recognition and will strive to continue to bring top notch games to video gamers around the world.
