That much is simple, but unfortunately there’s also a bit of confusion swirling around the details about the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta (that you get free!). Let me try and clear this up.
To play the SSF2T HD Remix Beta, here’s what you do:
1) Buy Commando 3 on XBL. Play it, love it.
2) In the Commando 3 menu, you’ll notice an option for “Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta” (insert long name joke here). If you hit that option, you’ll get an error. Why is this? Because the SSF2T HD Remix Beta isn’t live until June 25th.
3) If you hit the Beta menu option on or after June 25th, 2008, you’ll be taken to an XBL blade offering to let you download the new SSF2T HD Remix Beta.
4) Download the Beta, and then you can find it your “Games Library” under “Demos.”
5) Start it up and commence dragon-punchery.
And also, just to be clear, the SSF2T HD Remix Beta does not come with Commando 3 on PSN. Unfortunately the Beta is only available with Commando 3 on XBox Live, although the network improvements that we make post-Beta will improve the final, full product on XBL and PSN alike.

One of the coolest things in Lost Planet was the Akrid, the insect-like alien lifeforms you are constantly battling against. In Colonies, you can take the battle to the next level: By playing as an Akrid! Hey, as the old saying goes, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”. Here’s a video of Akrid Hunter mode in action.
As some of you already know, the upcoming Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition isn’t just your typical “Platinum Hits” re-release. It comes instead packed to the brim with new features, levels, weapons and multiplayer gameplay modes. In addition, there are new achievements to obtain, up to a full list of 1000 points. Here are 10 of the 50 new achievements you can look forward to, some of which you may already be familiar with. Stay tuned for more achievements coming soon!

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition (yes, it’s another triumph of elegant naming) is coming, and just went gold (hit the jump for the full press release).
While this is technically considered the “platinum edition” of the original Lost Planet, as a LP fan I feel that description really sells it short, so forgive me while I rant from my icy, LP Colonies soapbox about why this game is full of win:
1) Lost Planet Colonies is a LOT of game for your dollar. You’ve got a ton of new maps, weapons, and gametypes (for both single-player and multiplayer mode). These new gametypes aren’t just phoning it in either.
The video above has a good breakdown of the new Akrid Egg Battle mode (although it doesn’t contain the footage of me hitting Lost Planet product manager Frank with an egg + knocking him off a ledge).
Akrid Hunter mode lets you play as 50 foot giant Akrid bugs (including scorpions, the rolly-poley bug, and more). Each bug has its own special attacks and abilities, like spitting fireballs, scorpion stinger, or turning into an aimable bug bowling ball and crushing puny humans. This one mode by itself is practically a whole new game.
2) For the XBL achievement “enthusiasts” out there, this title also has 1,000 new points for you to fluff up that gamerscore.
3) As a “platinum edition,” the game is only thirty bucks.
Hit the jump for that press release I promised you…
The next chapter of Capcom’s Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is coming! Rocketmen: It Came from Uranus, an expansion to the original digitally-distributed title, will be available through Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Network Store on Wednesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 15 respectively. For 400 points on Xbox LIVE or $4.95 on PlayStation Network, Rocketmen fans will have access to 3 new maps, 3 new main weapons and 2 new secondary weapons, and of course there will be new enemies.

1. We are resource constrained. This project already has gone over the original budget (we had a new budget approved to accomodate our dedication to its quality and the new features… there were even a few we wanted to do that had to get cut in the end… more on that in a post mortem blog or something). Anyway, we wanted to do a beta to test the new network features but even if it were possible for Sony to do, it would require 3 submissions (US, Europe, Asia/Japan) to reach the same global audience we can with MS in a single test and global submission.
2. We treat the PS3 extremely seriously. To date, we are still the only third party publisher doing cross platform, simultaneous digital releases (still working on the global simultaneous, but see the issues above on multiple submissions per territory as an issue). Believe it or not, this is not easy and to suggest we aren’t treating the PS3 as important would be ignorant of what we’re doing for it.
It’s no secret that Capcom’s got an amazing year (actually: three, at least) of games ahead. Our titles range far and wide, from family-friendly Wii (We Love Golf!) and DS (Mega Man Star Force 2) games to decidedly non-family friendly faire for the PS3 and 360 (Resident Evil 5).
What the heck is a “Digital Day”? On Monday, we rolled out the red carpet to some of our friends in the local gamer media as well as a couple of dudes (just like you!) from our community for an event we dubbed “Capcom Digital Day.”Fortuitous development timing and a huge slate of hot titles combined with an excellent public relations opportunity to form like Voltron and produce a half-day of announcements, updates, interviews and hands-on time with almost all of the games. We ended up with over 50 members of the San Francisco Bay Area games press in attendance, including folks from EGM, 1up, IGN, Gamespot, Gamespy, Gametrailers and Games Radar, as well as ladies and gentlemen from Wired, Joystiq and Destructoid and many, many more. Read on for titles announced, a brief lesson in “PR” and some other fun bits!
The tyranny of the Axis of Evil ends today as the heroic Rocketmen blast onto your console for a small contribution-to-justice of $10 on PSN or 800 Microsoft Points on XBLA. As everyone knows, fighting is tough, so grab 3 of your friends to eradicate evil together as you level and customize your Rocketmen to suit your particular style. When you’re done, compare your justice-doing skills with your fellow Rocketmen on the new Rocketmen: Axis of Evil leaderboards by clicking on the link above.
For most, the end of the year usually is a time for too much eggnog, finally getting to touch a member of the opposite sex thanks to the magical Mistletoe, and making resolutions that you know you will never keep. However, the end of the year also signals the time for the reason you couldn’t keep those resolutions, videos games, to be given the proper recognition they deserve. 1up.com is getting the ball rolling, and among its nominees were several of our very own Capcom titles. The Best Adventure Game category looks really tough, especially as we’re competing with ourselves with 3 games our own games.
Best Action Game Resident Evil 4 (Wii)
Best Adventure Game Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure (Wii) Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (PSP) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations (DS)
Best Console Downloadable Game Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (PS3, 360)
Game of the Year Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure (Wii)

That got your attention faster than news of Avatar’s easy Achievement hack, didn’t it? MTv’s games blog, Multiplayer, has been digging in to the glorious mystery of everyone’s favorite invisible nerd points and just set their sites on Dead Rising. MTv conversed via email with DR game designer Goda Hidehiro about inspirations behind the Achievements, why all the game’s Achievements are the same worth regardless of difficulty and his personal take on why we keep chasing those points which are worth less than your epic WoW mount du jour.
Dead Rising is not only a truly awesome game, but also boasts some of my favorite Achievements, such as points for walking 33 feet on zombie heads (”Zombie Road”), knocking over zombies with an umbrella (”Raining Zombies”) and an Achievement for escorting 8 female survivors simultaneously (”Frank the Pimp”). IMHO, The single most creative Achievement in this or any 360 game is “Zombie Genocider,” which comes from killing 53,594 zombies — the population of the town, as seen on the Welcome to Wilamette sign on the helicopter ride to the mall — and rewards the player with 20 measly points and Mega Man’s MegaBuster weapon. Dope!
Sub-zero temperatures and at least a 45-minute wait didn’t stop Devil May Cry fans to play Devil May Cry 4 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 at this year’s New York Anime Festival. Yes, actually play DMC4 before it hits stores on February 5th!
Thank you to all of you that came by our booth. And sorry for not letting in all the under-17 year olds to play—I know you understand even though you were hating on us.
P.S.: Ashley—we’ll see you at the next festival, and first in line to play Devil May Cry?
P.P.S.: Mom and Daughter team—we’re still waiting for you to post that video of Mom playing DMC4!
