CAPTIVATE08 is coming up fast, people, and we can barely contain all the awesomeness that will be bustin’ out of our event. To wit: yer gonna get a chance to see the next (incredible!) trailer for RE5 right as CAPTIVATE08 ends! Gametrailers TV with Geoff Keighley will be debuting the new RE5 trailer on Spike TV Friday night/Saturday morning, May 31 at 1 AM EST/PST. Set your friggin’ TiVOs now, campers, as you cannot miss this. I’ve personally watched the trailer about a dozen times now, and I’m still seeing new stuff each time I look at it. It’s filled with evil — EEEEEEVILL! — and running and terror and shooting and exploding and horrible critters trying to suck poor Chris Redfield’s face off. More to come!
I may not like saying “shmups” but man do I love playing em. You monks have your Zen sand gardens, I have my endless geometric waves of bullets, badguys, and bosses. Our latest glorious entry into the world of digital downloads is 1942: Joint Strike, a lovingly reimagined take on the classic. Click here to see the new screens.
For fans of the original that have been waiting on this one, I have to say–it’s exactly what you were hoping it would be!
Hit the jump for the video trailer, which also just went up on Xbox Live Marketplace for your convenient at-home downloadification.
Sony Pictures and Capcom are working on an all-CG RE feature, called Resident Evil: Degeneration, which should come as no surprise to those of you paying attention. If you’ve picked up Resident Evil: Extinction, you may have seen this super-brief teaser trailer from the upcoming feature. If you haven’t picked up the movie yet, consider this reason number 2 (after Milla in a red dress and guns) to own the film. The trailer shows us that the new CG flick will be set seven years after Raccoon City was nuked (caution, spoilers behind), and will feature everybody’s favorite leather-jacketed member of STARS, Leon Kennedy. Plus: zombies! And cops ! Cross your fingers we get zombie cops. Resident Evil: Degeneration will be out in 2008.
GameSpot has just posted 3 new videos on several of the gameplay mechanics of Bionic Commando, the Wire Mechanics, The Swing, and the transformation of the Bionic Hand. Check them out!
Head on over to Street Fighter World to view the trailer (I can’t stop watching it), and then tell us what you think over in the forums. The game is still in development, so make your voice heard!
As hardcore Monster Hunter fans have already noticed, Capcom recently joined a Nintendo press conference in Japan to announce that Monster Hunter 3 will be coming to the Wii. Slashing monsters by slashing at monsters? Sign me up!
IGN has streaming video of the super-short teaser that was shown during the conference, which shows off some of the environments in the game and ends with a message from Capcom’s global head of R&D, creative genius and all-around nice guy, Keiji Inafune.
Inafune addresses the crowd, saying (loosely translated) “I’m Inafune from Capcom. Today we are presenting Monster Hunter 3. This is the formal sequel to Monster Hunter Dos. All of the video you have just seen was rendered through actual Nintendo Wii hardware. The development team is working very hard to make this a great experience on the Wii, so I hope you look forward to using the Wii controller to hunt monsters to your heart’s content. Thank you very much.”
Ginormous Monster Hunter fan folga has created an incredible fan-made Monster Hunter short movie, entitled Monster Hunter Zero. The movie will make even the most die-hard anti-Monster Hunter want to play. It’s that good.
