Rocketmen: Interviews From Uranus

May 15th, 2008 Chris Tou

Now that Rocketmen: It Came From Uranus is released for on both XBLA and PSN, I finally got the guys behind the madness to sit down and answer some hard hitting questions. In addition to probing them about Uranus, I also got them to give me way too much information about them you never wanted to know.

Let’s start with the typical softball question: What are your names and what do you do at Acronym?

Funky Swadling: My name is Daniel “Funky” Swadling, and I’m a producer, programmer and designer for Rocketmen, as well as one of A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.’s founders. Since we’re not a huge company, we all get to wear a bunch of different hats when working on a project.

Jesse Joudrey: I’m Jesse Joudrey, the other founder of A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. as well as technical officer for the company, and was a programmer and designer for Rocketmen.

Jeff Yu: Hey, I’m Jeff Yu, producer on Rocketmen.

How was Acronym started? Any particular reason?

JJ: A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. was started primarily because we believed that a small team of creative people could create small, fun games and have a much better time doing it compared with working on a 100+ person team.

While it may be your last stop for good taste in names, this expansion pack for Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is your first stop for bullet-flying, asteroid-crushing, space-faring hijinx. Well, maybe its your second stop, since you need the original Rocketmen game to play this expansion pack. But after you’ve blasted your way through that, this is where you’ll want to go next. If you’re new to Rocketmen, be sure to check out the updated, powered-up demo.

February 1st, 2008 Christine

Tim Innes

Meet Rocketmen Producer Tim Innes, captured here mid-karaoke.

CAPCOM: Hi Tim! What is your role in the Rocketmen game?

TIM INNES: As Producer I organize things, offer business & game development leadership, write many emails, juggle flaming chainsaws, herd cats, and help make things go like a Pakled space captain. Actually my job is much more complex, and often involves various game development tasks and stand up comedy.

New Rocketmen Screenshots

December 14th, 2007 Seth Killian

Hot off the, er… presses? Well, hot off something anyway, we’ve got a bunch of brand-new screenshots for the upcoming Rocketmen: Axis of Eeeeeevil. Okay, it’s just regular “Evil,” but with the staggering amount of bad guys to blast through, I feel the extra “e”s are justified. Rocketmen is a downloadable title for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, but unlike most of the downloadable pap out there, Rocketmen has a LOT of content, plus amazingly customizable characters and a ton of powerups. It’s even got that elusive special sauce: “replay value.” This is the most game you’re going to find for your downloadable dollar. Stay tuned for more updates.

Rocketmen Rockin’ The Download Space

August 22nd, 2007 Seth Killian

Now that we’ve finally got Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix in the bag, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is well into its development, it’s time to tell you about another one our Digital titles we have coming up that finally has a name that is short and easy to say: Rocketmen.

Rocketmen is a simple two-stick shooter, multiplayer co-op with up to 4 players locally or online. Theres a ton of character customization and upgrading and leveling up. Its based on a WizKids card-based game property, and should be out later this year for both Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network.
