For anyone still sleeping on this gem, Eurogamer has brewed some coffee and you need to smell it:
“The danger with Okami is that people will be so busy looking at how pretty it is, they’ll fail to appreciate just how brilliant it is underneath as well. Okami is an astounding videogame. Its world is living and organic, infused with ideas of mythology and natural beauty and influenced by several areas of the Japanese aesthetic, from sumi-e to architecture to religious and ritual tradition, as well as by other games as diverse as Zelda and Devil May Cry.”
“Okami should not be a little-known classic. It is an item of culture, informed by thousands of years of Japanese art and mythology and fashioned into perhaps the most thoroughly beautiful thing that gaming has to offer.”
“It’s as well-designed as Zelda, as involving as Final Fantasy, and as beautiful as anything you’ve ever seen; it belongs with the best of the Zelda series at the very apex of its genre.”
You asked for it, we listened, and made Okami on the Wii a reality. Read the review, then buy it today!

This week’s Zero Punctuation review by Yahtzee is of Zack & Wiki, which was inevitable, given Yahtzee’s well-known love for adventure games. Zack & Wiki is an awesome game that everybody liked, but no one bought, a genre that Capcom specializes in, what with Okami suffering the same fate…
As usual, click on the image above to see the slightly NSFW review and meeting your monthly quota of Roberta Williams references.
For those of you keeping count, that brings to a total of 3 Capcom games (DMC4 & RE:UC are the others) that Yahtzee has reviewed now. Since he only does one game a week, either he really loves us, or we’re using up our quota way too early.

This week, he rips our recently released blockbuster, Devil May Cry 4, a new one. That brings the total of Capcom games he’s reviewed to two. Only having time to do 1 review a week, Yahtzee doesn’t get to review a lot of games. This means that he harbors secret feelings for us. What those feelings are, I’m not quite sure. I’m not even sure I want to know…
Click on the image below to watch the always entertaining review, but keep in mind that it is NSFW.

The chart comes from Matt Matthew’s The Rating Rankings article over at Next-Gen, according to which Capcom pulls in at a healthy #3 overall.
According to my own analysis, we’re secretly #1, since everyone knows Final Fantasy fanboys don’t count, and Nintendo is more like a force of nature than an actual publisher. I dunno if this is quite the last word on the subject, but certainly an interesting read. You can find more discussion of this article over at the always-juicy Neo-Gaf forums.

Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw has revolutionized the art of game reviews. Long worded, big blocks of text? So 90s. Video review? So early 2000s. The best game reviews on the Internets may just be the ones done by Yahtzee each week with DIY Flash animations. Each week Yahtzee’s reviews combines just the right amount of quick-wit, stick figure animations, and a machinegun-like narration style.
Best of all, he’s never one to mince words.
This week, however, to both our horror and joy, he’s putting our own Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles under his microscope. Luckily, he actually kinda liked it in his own special way.
Check it out by clicking on the image above, but be warned that it’s NSFW (not safe for work) and definitely intended for an M-rated audience only.
