Since we don’t post eeeeelegal magazine scans and the Famitsu featuring the exciting new SFIV character hasn’t actually come out yet, it’s time instead for an exciting installment of [echoing announcer voice on] “Random Stuff Lying Around the Office,” where we bring you up-close and personal with the promotional trinkets that light our days and fill our nights. This episode is brought to you courtesy of Chris’s mighty phone cam.
First up is a sweet new Devil May Cry 4 art book. It’s hardbound and full of goodness showing how the world of DMC4 goes from concept art to fully-rendered models. Here’s a scan of the cover, as well as a couple of sample pages here and here for you to drool over.

You already know how a bill becomes a law, but here’s a fantastic behind-the-scenes on how a game idea becomes a real-live development project, from Capcom’s own Vice-President of Strategic Planning & Business Development, Christian Svensson!
Bringing Back the Wolf (or How Okami Wii Came to Be)
It’s not a mystery that Okami is a much loved game by its fans and the media. It’s won just about every award you can think of. It’s a testament to Clover’s unwavering vision and attention to detail.
That said, it’s also not a secret that the game in its first outing didn’t fare as well sales- wise as a game of its quality deserved. There are many reasons for this, and I’ll touch on at least one, a bit further below.
Your Opinion Matters (No, Really)
But before I do that, I want to talk about feedback Capcom has received from our consumers and how we’re trying to be responsive to it. Okami Wii specifically exists because of that direct communication, especially those we receive on our message boards (even if they’re sometimes mean to us).

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) recently announced their winners for the 2007 British Academy Video Games Awards. Our own Okami came away as the winner for Artistic Achievement as well for Original Score. All this, and soon you will be able to play Okami the way it was intended to be played, on the Wii!

Japan’s Computer Entertainment Software Association recently held their Japan Game Awards 2007 during this year’s Tokyo Game Show that took place from September 20-23rd and Capcom was able to walk away with multiple awards.
Monster Hunter Freedom 2, a PSP title that to date has sold over 1.4 million copies in Japan, was awarded the esteemed Grand Award as well as the Award for Excellence by the CESA. In addition, Okami, and our platinum hit, Lost Planet, also receive the Award for Excellence. Meanwhile, Dead Rising’s global mass appeal allowed it to capture the Global Award.
The Tokyo Game Show attendees chose as recipients for the Future Awards, given for highly anticipated games, Capcom’s Devil May Cry 4, Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes and Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure.
We at Capcom feel very honored and thankful for the recognition and will strive to continue to bring top notch games to video gamers around the world.

Okami is like an award-winning ninja. Just when other developers think their game finally has a chance to win something, Okami pops up again out of nowhere and snatches the award.
A jury of five game-industry staff at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival in Edinburgh, UK, has just awarded Okami with the Edge Award, meaning it was their favorite game of the year.
Incidentally, two Capcom games were in the running among the final eight, with Dead Rising being the other Capcom title.
Maybe if we gave it enough awards, someone up there will decide to make a sequel or port it to the Wii?
