Cung Le vs Capcom!

June 6th, 2008 Seth Killian

In addition to the press and members of our Capcom community, CAPTIVATE08 also got a surprise visit from MMA World Champion Cung Le. The champ (and his belt!) came through to check out all the new games, but he was of course specially interested in SFIV.

We took him down to some private machines where he went one on one with SFIV producer Yoshinori Ono himself. Ono-san fought bravely, but when he went down in the third, he tagged me in to put the champ on his back.

The Fan’s-Eye View of CAPTIVATE08

June 5th, 2008 Seth Killian

Melanie (aka Croik from Ace Attorney supersite court-records.net), wrote up an amazingly in-depth review of the CAPTIVATE08 event from her unique perspective. We didn’t even bribe her! Check it out here.

Here’s a quote from her write-up, which I like because it says a lot about the new, community-scented breezes blowing at Capcom:

After introductions were made of the main Capcom players and event heads, I was a little mortified when they asked for us Community folks to stand up and get introduced as well. So I stood up in my Trigun Tshirt, tiniest person there, and waved hello to the gaming press like a sixth grader at the first day of school, while being introduced as “[she] runs the large Ace Attorney site.” To my shock, murmurs of recognition went through the crowd. People in suits recognized what that meant. I think I almost died (in a good way).

Community ftw!

One Handed S-Kill on Street Fighter IV!

June 5th, 2008 Randy Reyes

I myself have had the honor of fighting Seth “S-kill” Killian in Street Fighter IV and have witnessed him not just playing the game but playing the game well! If you don’t believe me then check out the video.

It was shot guerilla-style by Unity member and CAPTIVATE08 special invitee Dubindoh, and it’s Capcom US’s Seth versus Capcom Europe’s Leo Tan last week at CAPTIVATE08.

Captivate 08 Blow Out!

June 4th, 2008 Chris Tou

Gaming jobs are awesome. Why? Well, just last week I spent the entire week in Las Vegas from Tuesday to Saturday, living it up in a posh hotel on the 32nd floor with free booze, food, video games and 150 like-minded video game folks to play them with. Plus we got to shoot at zombies. Now, before you’re overcome with jealousy, live the event vicariously by clicking through and checking out all the games we showed off at Captivate 08.
