Puzzle Fighter Gets Updated for PS3
February 25th, 2008 Seth Killian
An update for the US version of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on PlayStation Network went live this past weekend. Here’s the lowdown on what changed for my fellow Puzzle Fighter addicts:
–Voice Chat added!
–Localized for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish
–A few oddball bugs got fixed as well, including one that personally annoyed me: Previously people did not get a loss if they lost connection (or *cough*pulled*cough*) in a ranked game. Now the, uh… “disconnected” will get a loss upon completion of their next ranked game.
So don’t play ranked on a drop-prone connection and those of you pulling to keep those flawless records: repent! The day of judgment is upon thee. Or something.

Hey Seth. Grats on getting the patch out. Not too worried about the cosmetic bugs that got introduced into this patch (”seconds” no longer displayed in round time, last character of player names getting omitted in match making lobby).
What does worry me is the “penalty” you guys have instituted for disconnectors. Only awarding a loss to an abuser is not going to deter them from doing it. In reality, the new system put in place will actually give them an incentive to “pull the plug” even more.
I wrote a first thoughts thread in Capcom BBS which explains my reasoning for why I believe this will happen. You can find it here:

I wrote about these concerns before on the Capcom BBS but Chris Sven didn’t comment on it. You can find the post here:

I understand that when I wrote that message, development on patch 1.10 may have already been pretty far along. I do know however that the original submital of 1.10 to SCEE bounced way after I had made this comment (more than a full month) yet this was still not addressed.
Congrats on getting patch 1.10 out.
