Bionic Commando Podcast: Keeps on Truckin

February 19th, 2008 Seth Killian

The Bionic Command podcast is back, bringing you more of the best in games-y gaijin to wash up on Japan’s shores:

It’s two gaming media veterans for the price of one: podcast legend and “Gaming Jesus” Mark MacDonald, and the founder of localization company 8-4 and longtime Japan resident John Riccardi, join us on the show, discussing the games industry in Japan and abroad. We’ll also be talking about the Alpha version of Bionic Commando, and debating the price point for Bionic Commando Rearmed.

Incidentally I ran into Mark last week in Tokyo, and as far as I could see none of that stuff is true–in fact I thought he smelled delightful.

The team also has a poll asking whether people would prefer to pay 10$ or 15$ for Bionic Commando Rearmed. While I’m guessing the results will be incredibly close, I’m personally voting 15$ because a) the game is that good b) I dislike others and want them to suffer.

After listening to the new Top Secret Podcast, it made me realize how awesome it is when fans get free games from Capcom. It made me “lol” when they were talking about how in america someone who does fan work calls up Capcom(or email them… haha) and asks for some free games, and they get sent out. But the guys who worked on the game don’t even get free copies, they have to get it retail.

I realized, they were basically talking about us :D I feel lucky, and yet sad that they have to pay for their OWN game… haha

So I was wondering, does Capcom “eat” the cost of the games that are given out for free? Or is there an allotment that Capcom is allowed to give out for contests, fan work, etc?
