Interesting that you’d mention that, given Tycho’s blog post for that strip:

“Turbulence surrounding the compulsory installation of the PS3’s Devil May Cry 4, a procedure which is epic in length, was eventually answered by the scuttling drones of the official Capcom Blog. Their response, only loosely interpreted, is that complaining about it is dumb - and if you complain about it, then you are dumb.”

But Tycho also said:

There’s no way to transform “faster load times” into a black eye for the Playstation 3 version. It’s an incredible option, and I’d love to see this option present on the 360, seeing as I paid more for a fixed disc.

There’s two sides to this, and both sides are technically valid. But really, a once-off install really isn’t that big of a deal. Seriously, must you play the within that 20 minutes? Is your life that much worse off if you don’t get to play it within twenty minute of getting home?

He also than wentn out to point

The biggest issue here is that there is no choice given to the PS3 gamers. Personally I, like most people when they get home with a new game, would like to play it right away, yes PC games have install processes that you cannot avoid, but this isn’t a PC game. I agree that its a nice feature, but not one that should be mandatory, espially for people that are already limited on space on the PS3, I feel sorry for everyone that has a 20gb PS3 right now, that will have to remove programs already on there system just to play this game, OR will have to uninstall another game just to play this one, or another that has to have in install.
