Yo, Wayne! Lost Planet superstar signed to GI Joe movie
December 19th, 2007 Chris "Kramez" Kramer
Byun-hung Lee, the Korean-born Japanese TV superstar who gave his face to Lost Planet’s Wayne, is extending his reach to US audiences. Not satisfied just playing a mecha-piloting snow pirate, he’s now stepping into the split-toed tabi of Stormshadow in the GI Joe movie! Sure, dangerous guns, crazy vehicles, comical speech impediments and shiny steel masks are cool, but nothing can trump the bad/good ninja dressed in blinding white in the Joe oeuvre. Much like poor crazy Moon Knight, dressing yourself in white is a bold choice for a silent assassin; those types normally favor a more slimming black look. It would be like Jeff Gordon racing with his helmet turned backwards over his face or Tiger playing golf with a Whiffle Ball bat (note: both of these changes would possibly make me interested in either of their respective sports).
Let’s hope all of our treasured, precious 80’s childhood memories are handled as well as Transformers (oil watersports scene aside). Remember kids: Knowing is half the battle! Stay in school! Etc.

I heart Lee Byun-hung.
Hi Chris! Thanks for the Wayne-GI Joe movie highlight. Hope it’s ok to clarify something. Byung Hun Lee (or Lee Byung Hun in most movie credits) is a Korean-born KOREAN movie actor, not Japanese TV superstar. But he is indeed Asian famous and very popular in Japan, especially.
