Puzzle Fighter’s XBox Live Leaderboards Reset!
May 20th, 2008 Seth KillianIt’s a clean slate! In response to your requests, the XBox Live leaderboards for Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo reset this morning at 1 AM, PDT.
The scoring system had calcified, with some inactive players with good records clogging up the top positions, and discouraging new players from working hard to get their names in lights. It was also extremely difficult for established players to move up in the rankings without being able to play some of those top position-holders, so to let everyone stand on their current strength, we’ve wiped the slate.
Now it’s the wild west of Puzzle Fightin’ again, so hurry to pick your cheap Akuma and get served by my Chun Li (like this Friday, during our weekly Play Against Capcom matches).
Thanks to community member Gerald Guess for leading the charge on this issue. I’ll leave his gamertag private, but if you play a lot of Puzzle Fighter, chances are he’s mopped you up at least a few times.
Head over to our own Puzzle Fighter leaderboards page to see how you stack up and watch the drama unfold!

that is a good move! ^_^
Ok. This mean there will be another delay for the european PSN version? But we’re still waiting. Do you remember it or do you forgotted?
A more dynamic leaderboard solution is something that ALL such games should consider. I’ve been on about this for years personally… I don’t understand why no developer has done it.
Simple solution: Everyone’s rating slowly drops over time. So if you’re at the top of the chart, you have to prove you’re the best at least semi-frequently! “Prove it or Lose It” ought to be the motto for all online leaderboards for games like this. I think most people are more interested in who the top player is NOW anyway. Retain historical records (monthly?) if there is any concern with alienating players with this. But I wouldn’t have many concerns about this really.
