Okami box art: now with 100% less IGN watermarks
April 23rd, 2008 ColinI can honestly say that my worst day at Capcom was this Monday. After releasing Okami for the Wii last week to some great reviews (Metacritic Average: 88), one of our Okami diehard fans discovered that the folks who work here at Capcom are, in fact, human and can make mistakes.
I’m speaking of the watermark that appeared on the cover of Okami. It’s sadly one of those things that’s hard to spot if you don’t know what your looking for, but the moment you see it, it becomes obvious and stares you in the face.
As fans know, the real art of Okami is on the game disc itself, but given the artistic nature of this game, we’d like the outside of the box to match the beauty contained within. To that end, we’re offering a free make-good gift to our fans. If you purchased Okami for the Wii, for a limited time, you can choose from one of the three art pieces below and Capcom will ship a high-quality version of the box cover straight to your door.
Each piece is sized to fit perfectly into your Okami Wii box and will transform your copy into the best-looking game on your shelf. Just head to http://www.capcom.com/artredemption/, fill out the form, and go back to playing Okami while you patiently wait for your new, improved art to make its way to you.
Thanks again for being a fan of both Capcom and Okami! Now get back to painting!

LOL!!! Aaaawww… Everybody makes mistakes.
I like the pink one. I’ll get that one.
Thanks, Capcom!
Good job guys!
It pains me to say that the port of Okami to the Wii is not perfect (missing some graphical effects, missing the credits, some wonky controls) but I also understand the circumstances behind it and it’s easy to see that you guys cared about the game.
Don’t get me wrong the game is fantastic either way and anyone who hasn’t tried it yet should get it without hesitation. I’m just nitpicky =)
However that cover annoyed me to no end. It felt horribly sloppy and I was really hoping you guys would do something about it!
Well you have! Not many companies would do something like this and I’m glad Capcom is listening to it’s fanbase.
Thanks to Sven and all people involved!
I think Capcom is great, not only do they work hard to get this game out for the fans, but when boxart complaints come in they work to get new boxarts out to us, not only that they have different choices that we can choose from. Capcom is without a doubt one of my favorite companies not only for guaranteeing great games but for excellent customer care.
But you’re leaving people out of this redemption.. I live outside north america but I do own an NTSC Wii and thus I have the NTSC version of Okami for Wii - with the messed up cover.
But there’s no way for me to get the fixed cover because you won’t ship the cover to me.
I’m terribly disappointed by this.
If you’re going to fix your own mistakes, you should make sure that you’re compensating everyone who were affected, right now you’re leaving people out.
Thanks Capcom, those covers are beautiful.
And to you guys who own the NTSC version, did you ever notice the text on the back that says “For Sale, Rental, and Use only in the United States, Canada, and Mexico”…?
Don’t complain. If you had bought your own version of the Wii and Okami, then this wouldn’t be a problem for you.
You mean “the version that doesn’t even exist yet”? I’ll get right on that. Okami isn’t scheduled to come out in Europe until July, and Australia’s release date is still “TBA”. PAL gamers buy US Wiis and games because people in PAL territory get games months late and pay nearly twice as much for them as people in the US do. We are not pirating the game or doing anything illegal, we are legitimate paying customers who simply happen to be in a country where consumers get ripped off for entertainment media.
In fact I’ve bought Okami twice, once was the Australian PS2 version and now this version too.
Nonetheless, I appreciate that Capcom is doing this and I understand why they wouldn’t be shipping it internationally due to shipping costs. It would still be nice for them to do it since at the moment the only way I can get the replacement cover is to have it shipped to a friend in the US and then have them forward it onto me at my own expense, but I’ll live.
Capcom, thank you for the gesture even if I can’t benefit from it.
The box says “For sale, rental and use only in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Latin America” and yet the art redemption only cover US and Canada. They ARE leaving people out.
Think before you speak.
More like 99% less IGN watermarks. I emailed you guys about this (because I live outside of North America) and you’re refusing to make this right for me.
Boo Capcom, boo.
Thank you Capcom! Thank you for offering the alternate covers (and possibly making my limited edition cover a collectors item!?)
Keep up the good work (and where is Megaman on the virtual console????)

A big thanks to you Capcom! And a very big “YOU ROCK!” for listening to the fans!
I just wish that I could have all three covers. Now that would be cool.
For people overseas, we won’t quite be able to fulfill this the same way, but if you have access to a color printer, we’re going to try to help in a different way soon by putting up PDFs for you.
The game is great but talk about damage control. If you hired the right ppl to quality check and know “the game” assets you wouldn’t have spent the company’s or should I say the worker’s bonus check to compensate for the loss. If you ask me, Capcom is still awesome, cool and great but after seeing this, it just made me realize how diminish quality control is there. Of course its everywhere, but cmon, why did you hire these ppl in charge in the first place. Please do some background checks and make sure everyone goes through the interview process, otherwise you guys and the art/design coming from there are just plain sloppy, period!
Awesome Capcom!
I’m totally getting the second one!
Also, people who are outside the region the game was released, you have not right to complain. Capcom didn’t mean to sell the game to you, in fact they even say it is not for sale out of the region.

First of all - amazing support for your customers. Capcom are truly an awesome company…
I also live outside the US (in the UK), and was wondering how can I get hold of a copy of the new art work to replace the one ordered from DVDBoxOffice. Many thanks.
I was out for two weeks and now the replacement offer is gone… so what can i do now?
