PWND: Gametrailers upstages Capcom Unity thanks to budget, equipment, skill
March 20th, 2008 Chris "Kramez" KramerA few days ago, Seth K posted what we felt were two amazing videos produced internally by Team Unity, where he provided narration for a set of animated Street Fighter IV screen shots. We patted ourselves on the back, high-fived all the way around the room and then lit cigars with $100 bills. A few days later, Gametrailers has straight-up faced us. Check out what the experts can do with a little time and mad-wicked After Effects skillz. Please make sure to also go check out the jaw-crackingly stunning HD version of this video, too.

I feel so ripped off. If there’s one thing I can’t tolerate, it’s professionalism.
Well, the editing was certainly superb. I’m quite jealous; my own attempts at video editing are quite poor by comparison. *cry*
That said, I much prefer Seth’s commentary to the pretty visuals. This video is missing key things, like “safe on block”, “can hit as a crossup”, “sets up a juggle”, “provides a high/low mix-up”, “is super cancellable,” and so on.
The video is very pretty, and I give major props to the creators for all their hard work. But there’s a lot less information present, and ultimately, it’s the information I’m hungry for.
Thanks, glad you guys like it. This project is me playing SF4 vicariously, since I missed it at GDC. Boo!
As a SF nut (and trust me on this, I have the blisters from charge buffering Urien’s shoulder tackles and charge partitioning his dash headbutts to prove it), I would have loved to put in more info–but there’s only so much you can do with the slideshow format without overwhelming the viewer. I guess the goal here was more about constructing an overview rather than pointing out practical applications, since most people haven’t even tried C.Viper let alone know what her specials perform like.
When we finally get the game, you can bet that I’ll be there for a combo and primer video.
Stay tuned for Abel
it won’t be as exciting as C.Viper’s (not as much b-roll, sadly), but I think it’ll still be enjoyable to watch.
Good stuff, Patrick! Looking forward to the abel video, as well as the combo and primer stuffs.
Regarding SF2HD and Lost Planet Colonies. >snip<
Wrong place for this, lots of threads in the forums…
Dead horse. Beating it.
