The “It Came from Uranus” expansion pack for our PSN and XBLA downloadable, Rocketmen, is out today (May 14th) for XBLA, and tomorrow (May 15th) for PSN.
Here’s another look (video above, two new screens below) at the expansion showcasing one of the game’s new levels, some new weapons, and hella dudes with wings that require explodification. Your itchy trigger finger compels you to BUY IT NOW.
So we’re thinking about whipping up a new batch of SFIV figurines. We’re just dipping our toes in the water, and so won’t be making ALL of the characters right now, but we would like to make a few. If we’re not producing the whole cast, the question is which ones DO we make?
Obviously the new characters are cool, but Ryu, Chun, etc. are icons… Tough call. Anyway, rather than strapping on our thinking caps and then producing a bunch of stuff that nobody actually wants, we thought we’d ask you what you thought about it.
So, which ones are your favorites? Check out the poll on the right side of our blog and pick your top three!
A lovely piano arrangement of the classic theme from Dr. Wily’s Castle. Fan-made Mega Man music is always great (well, maybe not always) and there’s a ton of it, but here are few more of our recent favorites:
Spotted on the sometimes questionable but occasionally awesome 4chan, Street Fighter IV and Okami themed wallpapers! Click on the images to get to the original large sizes on our Flickr pool.
I’d credit the whoever made these, but they were posted as Anonymous, as most 4chan posters tend to do.
Update: Thanks to commentors, I can give credit where credit is due. The above SF4 image was created by Giovanny. The Okami image is entitled Okami - 13 Brush Gods, by syncaidia@dA over on Deviant Art.
Apparently Nintendo Power asked several WWE Superstars what character from a video game they would like to be and Matt Hardy said this, “I would be the dude with the claw from Street Fighter II, Vega. I was a big fan of Vega back in the day, just because he was so cool and he did flips and stuff like that.” Having watched many of his matches this makes a lot of sense.
While it may be your last stop for good taste in names, this expansion pack for Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is your first stop for bullet-flying, asteroid-crushing, space-faring hijinx. Well, maybe its your second stop, since you need the original Rocketmen game to play this expansion pack. But after you’ve blasted your way through that, this is where you’ll want to go next. If you’re new to Rocketmen, be sure to check out the updated, powered-up demo.
Uranus video above, and check out the new screens here!
We have a new batch sweet new screenshots from the upcoming Lost Planet Colonies. Although the screens are a bit, er, “petite,” they include some big action, including shots of the sweet new Akrid Hunter mode, as well as Egg Hunt and some single-player bosses. These are giant bugs fighting giant robots in space, people!
The Phantom of the Capcom Unity Opera, TAS can be found lurking in nearly any thread ready to drop science. If our first invitee Shawn was an artist, TAS is a writer, with thousands upon thousands of posts filled with frighteningly on-topic, accurate, and thoughtful information. His grammar is even good, and so obviously doesn’t understand how this internet stuff is supposed to work.
His pain is your gain, however, and like a little internet Amaterasu, his posts spread enlightenment throughout Unity. Woe to anyone preparing to spout nonsense—when it comes to Capcom, TAS knows his stuff.
While Street Fighter is his specialty, not a week goes by that I don’t read a TAS post about some esoteric piece of Capcom trivia and I go “really?” Then it turns out he was right. That is in my face, but I know when I am licked, and so we’re proud to announce that TAS will be joining us in sunny Las Vegas for the CAPTIVATE08 Spectacular!
For anyone still sleeping on this gem, Eurogamer has brewed some coffee and you need to smell it:
“The danger with Okami is that people will be so busy looking at how pretty it is, they’ll fail to appreciate just how brilliant it is underneath as well. Okami is an astounding videogame. Its world is living and organic, infused with ideas of mythology and natural beauty and influenced by several areas of the Japanese aesthetic, from sumi-e to architecture to religious and ritual tradition, as well as by other games as diverse as Zelda and Devil May Cry.”
“Okami should not be a little-known classic. It is an item of culture, informed by thousands of years of Japanese art and mythology and fashioned into perhaps the most thoroughly beautiful thing that gaming has to offer.”
“It’s as well-designed as Zelda, as involving as Final Fantasy, and as beautiful as anything you’ve ever seen; it belongs with the best of the Zelda series at the very apex of its genre.”
